Jillian Carey, PhD, LP
Dr. Jillian Carey completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Eastern Michigan University. In addition to private practice, she has also worked in college counseling, community mental health, and psycho-oncology. Dr. Carey works with adults, adolescents, and couples. Her clinical interests include depression, anxiety, personality disorders, behavioral excesses, mindfulness, sexual orientation, gender, chronic pain/illness, and disability. She also takes great care to ensure that therapy is affirming of all aspects of diversity and identity.
Dr. Carey’s approach to therapy is collaborative and is based on the understanding that therapy works best when there is a strong and trusting relationship between the client and therapist. She works closely with her clients to develop a shared understanding of their concerns and goals for treatment, while acknowledging that life is often complicated and painful. Although her clinical approach is integrative, Dr. Carey’s interventions often focus on acceptance and self-compassion while empowering clients to make the changes they would like to see in their lives.
